A note about Rajinikanth and his ‘Sivaji’

Sivaji (The Boss) the latest Tamil movie directed by Shankar and the lead role played by the emperor of Indian cinema, Padmabushan Rajinikanth , is the most expensive film ever made in Tamil cinema with a budget estimated at around Indian Rupees 96 crores ($24million) .

In India it made collections of Rs. 2.5 crores($750,000) just in advance bookings. The movie is estimated to have been released in approximately  1000 screens worldwide. It grossed more than INR  16 crores ($4 million) in just its home state (Tamilnadu) in the first day.

Padmabushan (the thrid highest honour a civilian can recieve in India) Rajinikanth was named as one of the influential persons in South Asia by Asiaweek and most recently one of the Mighty 50 influential people in India by Business week. He is one of the very few actors to have acted in over 160 feature films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi and Bengali movies in his 30+ year career.

He is most known for his humility, his screen presence, style and charm which is simply unmatchable by ANY actor yet. All he has to do is appear on screen and it creates a vibe and connection with the audience. That is no simple task. Not everyone has that kind of presence. Despite his so called ‘average’ looks, scrubby hair, dark skin and lanky body he has the ability to create a fan base in the billions and a swarm of captive audience from all over the world. That is not any simple task either. He is undoubtedly the king of Indian cinema.

The Madame Tussauds museum at London immortalised the incredible life-like wax model of this Super Star.
